Yummy meals for school

Most migrant parents living on the Thailand / Burma border are victims of the economic crisis and cannot afford to feed their children properly. More and more children come to school hungry and malnourished resulting in numerous children developing sickness from weakness, dehydration and malnutrition and many children having to leave school to work or beg instead.

The Help without Frontiers Yummy Meals for Schools program cooked healthy, varied and yummy meals for approximately 1000 students every day. We delivered the fresh food to the schools and dormitories with our own vehicles and decided the upcoming menus during monthly meetings with all school and dormitory representatives and our kitchen manager.

An independent report released by SMRU assessed the health of 45 schools in Mae Sot and showed that the schools benefitting from our food programme had nearly extinguished malnourishment and the health of the children was better.
A healthy meal costs around 30 cents, or 66 Euro per child per school year. We would be happy about adopters who could take on the food for a school or dormitory, or a number of meals!
