At Help without Frontiers, we always welcome volunteers and interns with different backgrounds who are willing to devote time, skills, and talents towards the improvement of our projects. This year, many volunteers and interns have already landed at Help without Frontiers, all committed to the cause of migrant education.
At the end of their experiences, we have asked some of them to express their views on their time with us. We believe their comments and suggestions will be helpful to guide all those bright people who are trying to find a unique way to make a difference.
Valentine is young woman from France who found herself traveling in South-East Asia. Thanks to her great flexibility and willingness to volunteer, we managed to put her IT skills at disposal of the youth attending the summer camp of the Rays of Youth. After one week of computer lessons, Valentine seemed satisfied about her experience:
Never having worked as a computer teacher before, this was a new but very rich experience for me. The students were so nice and very eager to learn new things. It was a real pleasure to work with them. The local teachers were as lovely as the children and the initial nervous feelings were completely forgotten after day one! The kids were adorable and I left school feeling a great sense of achievement each and every day. Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat.
Dao is a young Thai student who is attending the Ratchapat Pii Boon Songkram University in Phisanulok. She is majoring in English and she arrived at Help without Frontiers with other three students, willing to improve her language skills. After her experience of four months with the Education team, Dao said:
First of all I would like to thank Help without Frontiers for having given me the opportunity to be an intern. I also want to say thank you to the Education Team for having taught me many things and for having taken care of me as a friend, with kindness, and for having improved my English. I love HwF for having given me such an experience. I am going to miss everyone, you will always be in my memory.
Are you willing to follow the examples of Valentine and Dao? Do you want to find out more about a volunteer opportunity with us? Send us your CV and a cover letter and we will do our best to match your interests with our needs and projects!
