Since 2015, Help without Frontiers, in joint collaboration with local partners operating in the field of migrant education as well as with Migrant Learning Centres, has established an informal agreement with the educational authorities in Myawaddy, on the Myanmar side of the border. As a result, the Board Exam has been set up as unofficial local practice of accreditation of the education that migrant children and youth receive in Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs).
At the end of every school year, representatives of the Myanmar Ministry of Education travel from Myawaddy to Mae Sot to bring the official examination, known as matriculation exam that the Myanmar Ministry of Education prepares for students enrolled in the correponding educational levels inside the country, to migrant students in MLCs. As such, thanks to the collaboration between the Myawaddy educational authorities, NGOs and MLCs, migrant students who have completed Grade 4 and Grade 8 in Mae Sot and its surroundings can take the examination and, if they pass, have the chance to apply for accreditation and enrol in schools in Myanmar.
On 22 April 2018, the Myanmar Ministry of Education announced the results of the Board Exam that took place from 19 February to 26 February 2018 at Parami Learning Centre.
Students from many of our Ray of Hope schools had took the examination in February... 98 students of them passed Grade 4 Board Exam while 40 students passed Grade 8 final examination...
100% of the students passed the examination!!
These students will receive a certificate that will allow them, if and when they will return to Myanmar, to further their studies and hope for a brighter future!
Huge congratulations to these bright students!
